Introductory workshop held in Ahmedabad
In a first of its kind initiative, Sports Authority of Gujarat is training Physical Education(PE) teachers to encourage sports at grassroots level and attract more children to games and athletic events. A total of 1100 PE teachers from across the states have been chosen for training as per the performance of their students in Khel Mahakumbh and District Level Sports School. They will be taught how to use technology to develop students' interest in sports, identity interested students, ensure they follow a proper diet plan, train them to be physically fit and train them for sport they are suited for, The SAG is conducting the programme under School Sports Contact Programme(SSCP).
Sports has developed multifold technically in the past five years and the training aims to help teachers keep pace with changing times. The first training session saw participation from 802 of the 1100 teachers. The programme was launched by badminton legend and celebrated coach Pullela Gopichand early this year.
